Grace and Law...do they Contradict or Complement each other?

Does Grace and Law contradict each other? Let us take a look at the following references from the Word of God. Paul says in...
Romans 8:- 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death.

Gal 2:19:-When I tried to obey the law's standards, those laws killed me. As a result, I live in a relationship with God. I have been crucified with Christ.

Here Paul talks about, living under the law versus living under God's grace.
He says we who have accepted Christ are no longer under the worldly law but under the law of the Spirit which is Grace. Therefore we live in a relationship with God.

But again in the following verses he stresses the importance of no longer living in sin but bearing the fruit of God in our lives.

Romans 6:2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

Romans 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Romans 7:4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

Through His death and resurrection Jesus won victory over sin, Satan and eternal death and because of His immense love for us, the Father covered us with His Grace, so that whoever calls on the name of Jesus and confesses Him as their Lord and Saviour, they are saved from eternal damnation.

When someone accepts Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, first, he is convinced of his own unworthiness and tells Jesus that he is sorry for his sins and only after that he confesses his belief in Christ.Thus that person is forgiven. He then is expected to put on the Righteousness of Christ and live a life pleasing to Him. Why does one have to put on the Righteousness of Christ? Because 'That' Is the covering for our sins. It is doubled up with Grace.

Grace is not given to us so that we can get away with purposeful wrong doing. No, it is given freely to us so that we will have a window period to realise our faults and tell the Father we are sorry whenever we fall into sin. Not for us to treat it cheaply and trample upon it. The Holy Spirit, who is given to all the believers who ask the Father, will convict them of their sins during this grace period.

As humans it is natural for us to slip and fall into sin when we are not aware or careful. Grace gives us time to repent and the Righteousness of Christ covers our multitude of sins. Again we must remember that Jesus said to the prostitute, "I forgive you, go and sin no more."

Now let us look at the following verse.
Romans 4:14 For if what God promises is to be given to those who obey the Law, then faith means nothing and God's promise is worthless.

Many when reading this verse argue that if you rely on obeying the law then grace means nothing and that Christ's death is in vain. My dear friends, I beg to differ. Now look closely at that verse again. To whom is God's promises given? To believers right? Ok! Paul here says that if God's promises are given to those who obey the law...here he is referring to all the righteous unbelievers. When I say righteous, I mean that these people do not believe in Christ but they are living according to the law. They live morally upright lives and they are charitable to the widows, orphans and the poor and lonely and they love unconditionally. They do not steal or kill. They are righteous according to the worldly standards. But the bible says that according to God's standard our righteousness is filth in God's eyes. The bible says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. No one is worthy of entering heaven. Jesus says, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life! No one goes to the Father except through Me!"

Paul's argument is that if God's promises are given to these people who do not believe in Christ, then what is the use of having faith.

Thus in essence, Grace is given to those who accept Christ. Christ is the only Way to heaven. Therefore those who follow the Law and do not accept Christ do not receive Grace and are not covered with the Righteousness of Christ. This does not exempt Christians from living in right standing before God. Grace does not allow Christians to go on living in sin, when they know that it is sin.

Yes, we are human beings and we easily fall into sin, but we must be able to overcome our human tendency to sin while we are still under God's Grace. That is the main purpose of His Grace which is given freely to us. If someone knows what he/she is doing is against the Word of God and continues to do it saying,"I am under Grace, therefore I will be forgiven," then what that person is doing is like a child of an all forgiving parent who goes on disgracing his mother in public, hurting her physically and emotionally and saying, I am loved immensely by her therefore she will forgive me every time I do it. Won't the mother lose her patience eventually and discipline her child? In such an instance, I would question that child's love for his mother. If he really loves her, would he want to hurt her? Likewise, if a Christian really loves God, he would not sin consciously but would try his best even to avoid sinning unconsciously.

Therefore Grace does not in any way contradict Law but it in fact complements it.

Now, the grace period given to us Christians is coming to an end according to God's Word. After that it will be God's final judgement. So it would be good if those of us who profess to be Christians really examine ourselves and change our lives to be pleasing to God, or else be prepared to face His wrath on the day of the final judgement.

Who say's Christians are not in hell? Jesus Himself said in Matthew 7:21-23...."Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of heaven......And then will I declare to them, " I never knew you; depart from Me you workers of lawlessness."

Obedience Attracts Blessings and Power!

Luke 5:1-11 (NLT)
[One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee,] [ great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God.] 2[He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets.] 3[Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon,] [ its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.] 4[When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ] “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” 5[“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”] 6[And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear!] 7[A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.] 8[When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.”] 9[For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him.] 10[His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed. ] Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!”[ ] 11[And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus. ]

Just this past weekend in his sermon, pastor Pacer Tan preached the following:-
"Peter and his boys (workers), had just spent the whole night trying to catch fish and came back exhausted, with empty nets. After teaching the crowd which was a gathered there, Jesus told His new friend, the expert fisherman, probably a fishing enterprise owner, to go back and throw the nets for a catch. In his mind Peter must have thought, " Here I am, a fishing expert. What does this carpenter who plays with wood, know about fishing?" Yet, Peter chose to obey. His obedience attracted blessings! Yes, the nets were so full that they began to tear."

Now, God's Word says that obedience is better than sacrifice. (1 Samuel 15:22). God our Father searches for willing candidates to carry out His ministry of saving souls on earth. Just as He found willing candidates in the apostles so too we must become willing candidates in His divine hands,. When Peter obeyed, Jesus was able to use Him to further God's Kingdom on earth.

Peter did try to catch fish. Yet he was unable to catch any fish using his own knowledge and strength. Even if he had been able to secure any catch, the catch which the Lord brought in through Peter's obedience, far superseded, any fish that Peter would have caught. Likewise when we, though we may be very educated, very rich and very powerful, humble ourselves and surrender to the Lord and obey Him, we will be used mightily by Him, for the salvation of souls, which is His mandate for us Christians.

Bless & pray for those who hurt me?

He cut into my lane when I was driving...so I let out a swear word or a curse! ...Her boss keeps picking on her unnecessarily and she curses him in her heart... His son is rebellious and he angrily shouts all sorts of negativity to him...
"How can you curse man whom you can see and bless God whom you cannot see, because if you have done it to the least of these, you have done it to me," says Jesus.

Yes when someone hurts us, our natural tendency is to become hurt, feel misunderstood, then angry, then we pass hurtful remarks either to that person directly or behind him/her or about him/her to someone else. Finally we presume the motives behind their actions and speech and we become judgemental. This causes us to play and re-play that incident in the amphitheatre of our minds and keep the pot of anger brewing. The gulf created between us and them becomes larger and larger and it will eventually become our final grave.

The anger brewing subtly within us, will cause heart-attacks, ulcers, high blood pressure, diabetes, liver failure, kidney failure and finally cancer. Ha, ha, so you think that all these diseases are caused by eating the wrong kinds food and not exercising, eh? That's where you are wrong my friend, you are very wrong. Unforgiveness, anger, hatred, bitterness, cursing...these are the culprits which drag you to your grave before you fulfil the task God sent you to planet Earth to fulfil.

You may say yes, I have forgiven but I cannot forget what he/she has done. Yes it may be difficult to forget because we are just human beings. Some just try to brush off the wrong doings of others and try to make peace but are stung by them again and again and this makes them wary and they just try to avoid them at all cost so as not to be hurt again. Well I am no one to judge and say what one should and should not do...but Jesus tells us what we can do in Luke Chapter 6:-

Luke 6:27-33 (NLT)
27. “But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. 28. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. 29. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. 30. Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back. 31. Do to others as you would like them to do to you. 32. “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! 33. And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!

Yes, Jesus wants us to pray for those who hurt us in order to receive abundant blessings, power and all the answers to our prayers. Now before an all loving, sinless God our good deeds are not good enough. What we consider good works according to human standards is actually filth according to God's standard, but He makes all things acceptable, pure and new through the righteousness of His Son Jesus Christ. So none of us can be proud and say, "I am good !" or "I am worthy!" None of us are. If God can forgive us and accept us then who are we to hold back forgiveness from our fellow men?

Jesus is now asking us to go one step further and pray for those who hurt us. We must bless them as much as we would want God to bless us. We must bless them sincerely with all our heart. Only then we will be made new from within.

Now imagine that a silver plate has life. Someone eats from it and it becomes dirty. If that plate does not allow itself to be washed it cannot be used again. If it not only allows itself to be washed clean but also to be polished, it will begin o shine brightly. Just like that metaphor, if when we forgive we allow God to wash us of our inner filth. When we bless those who hurt us, and pray for them, we are allowing ourselves to be polished to shine brightly. That is, we will be made new from within so that we can be empowered by the Holy Spirit and be used mightily in our ministries to win souls for heaven. Just as an unwashed plate cannot be eaten from so too a person who does not have the heart of God cannot be used fully and mightily by Him. We will lack spiritual power.

Jesus came in the flesh and so He knows our every weakness. He knows that we will not be able to forget easily. That is why He asked us to pray for those who hurt us and to bless them. Prayers made for those who hurt us and blessings imparted to them will supernaturally release the Holy Spirit's special healing anointing from within us which will miraculously heal our memories and will change the other person. So shall we begin to bless and pray for those who hurt us, from this moment forth?

A Love Letter from God!

My Dear Child,
This is your Daddy from heaven. I am your Maker. The One who formed you in your mother's womb. I shaped you and put all of your intricate parts together and breathed My life into you. I kept you safe within your mother's womb while you were still helpless and continue to do so till this very moment. (Jeremiah 1: 5 & Psalm 139: 13)

When you were little, your parents were there to make decisions in your life on your behalf as to what to eat and what to wear, what movies to watch, what sort of books to read, which friends to select and which school to go to, etc...but that began to change little by little as you grew. You wanted to make your own decisions. You wanted to be independent. You were partly influenced by your parents, your family and partly by the friends you selected and grew up with. You were shaped by those you spent the most time with.

I have given every person I created, a 'Free Will' to choose right from wrong and I will never interfere with your decision. My child stop now and go to My Word and see what I have revealed to you there. (Genesis 2:15-17, Deuteronomy 11:26-28, Deuteronomy 30:15-18, Joshua 24:15, 1 Kings 3:14, 2 Chronicles 26:5, Matthew 23:37, John 15:6-7.) 

Were I to interfere, you would be a robot and not a human being. I respect your decision and I AM always there to help you, when you ask Me; but sadly you don't ask, especially when you most need to. You give in to your fleshly desires and your impulses. These are forcefully controlled by Satan and his agents. I cannot reverse things after they happen. I can only help from there, if, you ask Me to. You have to go through the consequences of your choices, be they good or bad. That is how it is and I cannot change it. 

Let us say that you choose to eat the wrong stuff, if you do that you will end up falling sick. I cannot prevent it but I can help to heal you if you ask Me. I cannot stop you from wasting your precious time not studying and failing, but I can help you to study and pass if you will make the effort to do that and ask Me. If you make the wrong decision in life as to commit a crime you have to go through the punishment, but while you are going through the punishment, I can help to change your heart and shape your character if you seek Me. If you choose to have sex outside of marriage and get pregnant I cannot stop it but I can help you go through it and help you walk in My way if you ask Me. I can help you raise your child up with dignity in Me. But then again I cannot stop you from aborting (murdering) that innocent child of Mine and going through the consequences of suffering lifelong with a hurting soul and spirit if you choose to without coming to Me. I cannot stop you from choosing your friends, but you will suffer the consequences of wrong friendship, again wasted time, effort and money and wrong influences. Then if you seek after my heart I can help you to let go of them and choose the right friends. (Isaiah 55: 6)

My child, I created you for a purpose. I gave My only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for your sins and sicknesses and to redeem you from the deceiver so that you will be with Me forever in heaven, a place I created before I even created man. (John 3: 16) BUT...Satan has challenged Me...it wants to deceive everyone and lure them to the place of eternal damnation, hell fire. (John 10: 10)

Sense of taste and smell :-

Eating the wrong food and drinking the wrong stuff and even eating without moderation can make you sick and can even kill you. Satan wants you to die before your time. If you don't die, he wants to make sure that you are so sick that you will not be able to fulfil your destiny...by spending your hard earned money on doctors and medicines and eventually die of some rare disease. Satan also gets you addicted to some kinds of aromatic tasty food and drinks and does all it can to keep your mind muddled so that you will stay addicted.

Sense of sight, hearing, touch and feelings :-

I love music. My archangel who was in charge of the music department in heaven rebelled against Me and became the commander of all other devils, yes, Lucifer. He continues to this day to lure my children through hard rock and metal and evil useless music and songs. It keeps your mind hooked on satanic music and all useless activities so that you will not hear My still small voice. My children waste time in front of television sets saying they want to relax, and they watch serials, soap operas, dramas and movies which seem innocent and fun but which promote violence and sex and immorality and all kinds of advertisements which cause them to seek worldly things above Me. My children are becoming numb to all these and all these do not strike as 'SIN' to them any more because, "Everyone does it!" and "It is so so Normal!" So, My daughters begin to dress immorally by exposing their flesh because they think it is normal. They do not realise that even a little exposure of flesh in the wrong areas will seduce men. Even wearing tight clothes that reveal their body shape. It all seems normal to them because Satan has made them think that way. But I beg to differ. (Go to My Word and read what I say in Matthew 5:28, Matthew 18: 6, Matthew 5: 29) My children spend their hard earned money on useless materialistic things in the name of fashion and branded goods. That is how Satan has brainwashed them.

Now even the words that people use nowadays seem stylish or righteous but you have to examine every word before it escapes your lips. You must give an account before Me on the day of your judgement for every word you utter in this world, My child. (Matthew 12: 36-37) Idle words which seem funny and angry words and curse words which seem to justify yourself etc...these have to be avoided as they do not edify anyone or bring them closer to Me.

Words either make or break relationships. Hurtful words can be damaging to people's spirits, put fear into them and cause so much discouragement in the other persons that it pulls them away from Me instead of towards Me. You may think that it will help them to change but the words you select must be firm yet gentle words of character. What do I mean by that?

If you want someone to change their ways, talk to that person gently. Your tone of voice is very important. Do not use angry, provoking, accusing and judgemental words or tone. ( Proverbs 15: 1-3, Proverbs 15: 18, Proverbs 25: 15. )

Thus the Ephraimites were pacified by Gideon's mild answer; and David by Abigail's very submissive and respectful address, Judges 8:1; but grievous words stir up anger; such as rough and menacing, scornful and sneering, reproachful and reviling, proud, haughty, and overbearing; like those of Jephthah to the Ephraimites; and of the Ephraimites to the Gileadites; and of Nabal to David's servants, concerning him; and of Rehoboam, who answered the people roughly: in all which instances anger was stirred up, and either were or like to have been attended with bad consequences, Judges 12:1. Choose your words carefully My child. Do not jump into conclusions, do not assume what the other person may be thinking and do not be hasty with your words. Build a loving, non-judgemental and Christlike relationship with that person before you correct him/her. Be patient like I am patient. No one is righteous before Me except My Son Jesus. All have sinned and fall short of My glory. That is why I want you to be clothed in My Son's righteousness and be washed by His blood.

The world says, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, each man to his own... but sadly my children are deceived by Satan as he controls their thoughts and emotions very subtly and easily. Man was created to walk and talk with Me and to have a deep love relationship with Me. When Adam sinned, sin separated mankind from Me. Separation from Me creates an emptiness, a void in man's soul and spirit and man will always be lonely unless he finds Me and fills his emptiness with My Holy Spirit.

Instead of filling the emptiness with My presence, some of My children turn to the world for self gratification by engaging in non-productive, non-helpful tv programmes, movies, worldly music and songs, aggressive computer games, non edifying computer games, net surfing, unhealthy activities like gambling, gossiping, getting drunk, unguarded relationships with the opposite sex or even same sex. All these numb one's concience and eventually lead to sex outside marriage, homosexuality, adultery and broken families. Even healthy activities done without moderation and proportion, like spending too much of time at work or on a hobby without giving time for Me, will lead you away from Me. Satan does not want you to be free, to pray, to worship, to read My Word or to hear My still small voice. 

Yes, sin separates you from Me, and yes, you have sinned, but you don't have to despair because you just have to be sorry for your sins, repent and seek My forgiveness and ask Me to wash your sins away with My Son Jesus' blood, clothe you with My Son's righteousness and we can have a deep loving relationship with each other. You have to ask, seek and knock My son/daughter! (Matthew 7: 7) It is heartbreaking to see My children be lured away by Satan into hell fire. 

You may say, "But everyone does it. Why can't I? A little of this and a little of that surely will not hurt, will it?" My child, just as little drops of water make a mighty ocean, a little of this bad habit and a little of that bad engagement will successfully desensitize you to Me and My teachings. Only emptiness and more emptiness will remain.

You are My chosen ones and if you want to remain My chosen ones, you must not follow the rest of the world. Be different. By your words and actions you will either lead others to Me or away from Me.

If you are single, please seek Me first, before you look for the right partner in life, for life. (Matthew 6: 33) Build your relationship with Me. Do not substitute your loneliness with another human being. It will never work that way. Yes, you need to find the right partner. Just trust Me! I will mould that person, whomever that may be, for you. But first let Me mould your character to be the kind of husband/wife that your partner would want you to be.

Spend at least one hour with Me, praising and worshipping Me, every single day without fail. Praise and worship will confuse Satan and his demons and drive them far far away from you.

Every battle of yours will be successfully won by my army of angels when you praise and worship Me. As I have told you before, your battles are Mine. I will go before you and be at your rear to protect you as you surrender your all to me and just praise and worship.

Next, study My Word every single day without fail. My Word is life to your body, soul and spirit. My Word will make you whole. I will make You see things the way I see them. I will transform you in a way most pleasing to Me.

Your parents and pastors say, "Make it a point never to miss community worship in church with other believers because corporate worship brings heaven down to earth, corporate worship unites heaven and earth. Do this as often as you get the chance to.

Look for an opportunities, everyday, to serve God through others. It may be your own family member, an elderly or sickly grandparent, the poor, an orphan, someone in church or in your neighbourhood. Start with your own family circle first. If everyone takes care of their own family members and grandparents there will be less needy people in the world. Then stretch your help to the needy in your neighbourhood, your country and then to the world. It is of no use if you contribute to charity and help others when your own people are struggling without help. You must set your priorities right." There is truth in what they say. Listen to the godly advice of your elders because they have walked the way before you and have gone through the ups and downs of life. They talk through first hand experience.

Do not jump into any relationship without seeking Me first. That will only lead to wasted years, wasted courtship and a problematic relationship which will either end in a divorce or will continue in bitterness, resentment and hatred all your life. This will lead to unforgiveness which in turn will lead to health problems such as stress, migraine, heart attacks, gastric ulcers and cancer. That is the ultimate plan of Satan, to make you lose control of yourself, to make you waste time, to make you fall sick and die before your time so that you will not be clear minded to fulfil the destiny I have for you.

Yes, you may think that that person you are in love with now, is the most perfect and ideal person for you. If you are that much in love with that person, can you imagine how much more I would love that person whom I have created. I love that person as much as I love you My child. Would I want anything bad to happen to either of you? You cannot see far into the future, but I, your Creator God know all things that are going to happen in the future. I know what is good for you both. I know who is the right person for you both. I know what you both must do, to enter My glorious presence in heaven. You will never know all these till you seek My face.

Yes, seek My face my child. Then you will be shaped and moulded by My Spirit back into My image. I created you in My image (Genesis 1:27) but it has been distorted by sin along the way. Tell your friend, the one you love, to do the same. I will teach you both, My Way. (Isaiah 55: 8-9) I will teach you both how to be caring and be compassionate. I will teach you both to forgive unconditionally and love unconditionally. I will teach you both how to handle every problem, every stressful situation, every heartache and sorrow, even every happy moment with Me. I will teach you how to empty yourself of your ego and fill yourself with Me. I will put My Holy Spirit in you and shape you and if you will allow Me, I will use you to win souls for My kingdom. If you are made for each other and if you yield to my moulding, I will bring you both closer together in My time. Do not rush. The real test of faith is to trust in Me fully when all seems silent and when you do not know what to do next. ( Jeremiah 17: 7-8, Proverbs 3: 5-6).

It is so sad when My children do not trust Me, their Creator and rush into what they think is the right relationship even before they are prepared by Me. That is why the divorce rate is terribly high in the world. That is why there is an abortion performed every second of every day, in the world.

Youth nowadays get caught in seemingly innocent relationships only to find out that the partner they chose is not the right person for them after they get involved deeply with each other. Precious time and money and efforts are wasted in all their efforts. Only heartache remains.

If only you will seek Me first! Yes, nothing will ever get wasted, if you seek Me first genuinely with all your heart and mind and will. Your time will be saved. You will get to know who the right partner for your life is, quicker than you think. You will know which career path to take, you will be able to relax by engaging in the right activities. Your efforts and time and money will not be spent unnecessarily on the wrong persons or wrong activities, courses or career.

Please! Learn to hear My voice. My sheep hear My voice. ( John 10: 27) I speak through My Word and in the stillness of your heart. Come! Come away with Me to a lonely place, in the quietness of your room and heart and spend time with Me! Not one day but everyday! Let Me in on the things you do throughout the day. Make Me a part of your daily life, a part of all your activities. Talk to Me throughout the day. Consult Me. Then you can say together with Paul My son, "I have fought the fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith!" (2 Timothy 4:7)

Child, trust Me, will you? Trust Me your heavenly Father, your Creator, your all knowing and all loving God! I love you and know what is best for you.

Selection of the Right Marriage Partner!

When a boy meets a girl or vice versa, what makes them click? At first it might be the attractive looks or the way that person interacts or jokes. Sometimes one falls in love with the other person out of sheer pity. That person may come with a sob story of how no one likes him/her and this person might tell of how rejected he/she feels.

My dear youth, if ever anyone of you is going to select your future partner out of pure sympathy, or simply for the attractive looks, please think twice. A real man or woman will never use manipulative tactics to win someone's heart. Looks will change, beauty will fade and most importantly, sympathy will never stay.

What then should you look for in your future partner? Simple, look for the characteristics of Christ, His fruit. What is His fruit? Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control. The greatest of these is love. Unconditional love.

There may be boys and girls, knowing that you only desire someone who is a Christian, who may go with you to church and try to be 'holy' like you. Here you need the Holy Spirit's discernment. Do not fall for such persons immediately. Those who do not have a genuine relationship with Christ will be exposed soon by their very own behaviour.

Pray and build your relationship with Christ then the right partner who also has a deep relationship with Christ will find you in Him! Then your relationship which is founded on Christ Jesus the rock, will stand strong and firm through all stormy weathers. Then you will see each other with the eyes of Christ, hear and understand each other with the heart of Christ and forgive each other every time a quarrel occurs and love each other unconditionally. It may take time, a life time to understand each other, but with Christ you will be able to do it. All because you derive the strength from Him!
